The role
As Programme Secretary you will:
- Ensure Stevenage u3a adheres to the constitution and the law in effective governance
- Act in line with the u3a Trustee Code of Conduct
- Organise and schedule all weekly open meetings
Skills & Attributes:
- Good organisational skills; methodical approach with strong . to detail and accuracy.
- Expert at keeping track of dates, bookings.
- A team player who enjoys working with others.
- Comfortable being an assertive communicator
Support for your role:
- Help from experienced and current Committee members.
- Trustee induction with our u3a.
- Handover and support from the outgoing Programme Secretary.

Key Tasks:
- Follow Stevenage u3a’s constitution and meet its charitable goals
- Follow the statutory requirements and the guidance from the charity regulator and u3a Trust.
- Arrange the weekly open meeting.
- Research topics and speakers for the open meetings.
- Book speakers for the meetings.
- Arrange for any necessary equipment for the talks.
- Arrange payment for any outside speakers.
- Ensure the booking is made for the weekly venue.
- Stay up to date with policy and procedural changes from the Third Age Trust and the charity regulator.
- Keep on top of practical responsibilities
